At 04:40 we started the journey again. We hit one of the amazing Danish bridges at 05:45 and continued. We finally reached the massive bridge that runs between Denmark and Sweden at 07:15 and entered Sweden half way across the bridge at 07:15.
Feeling pretty hungry by now, I pulled off the motorway and into a petrol station where I filled up the car and purchased sandwiches and drinks. By the way, I wouldn’t recommend fizzy strawberry flavoured water…you need an acquired taste I suspect.
I thought that it would be just 4 hours before we reached our destination, Arboga in Sweden, but because we had to slow right down (a motorbike Police officer indicated this to us in Denmark, and another driver in Sweden also did the same (by the way Steve was driving both times)). In fact it took us just over another 10 hours before we reached Arboga at 15:00.
We emptied the glider trailer of the camping gear that we’d loaded into it for the journey and Steve went to park it in the designated area whilst Michael and I quickly raced to pitch the tents as it had just started to rain. We put up Michael’s small tent and threw the bedding and items that would get soaked inside it whilst we pitched the larger one that was to be Steve’s and mine and which would also contain all the gliding gear.
We met up with Gill and Brian Spreckley and Gill’s crew Helen and then stopped for something to eat in the tent. We were all pretty stiff from the journey and certainly very tired by now; an early night is in order. Tomorrow I hope the weather will be better and I will get a chance to fly with Brian in the Duo in order to have a quick look around the site and local area.
